Design and dynamic analysis of integrated architecture for vibration energy harvesting including piezoelectric frame and mechanical amplifier

Abstract Vibration energy harvesters (VEHs) can transform ambient vibration to electricity and have been widely investigated as promising self-powered devices for wireless sensor networks, wearable sensors, applications of a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS). However, the is always too weak hinder high conversion efficiency. In this paper, integrated frame composed piezoelectric beams mechanical amplifiers proposed improve efficiency VEH. First, initial structures (PF) an amplification (AF) are designed. The dynamic model then established analyze influence key structural parameters on factor. Finite element simulation conducted study harvesting performance, where stiffness characteristics power output in cases series parallel load resistance discussed detail. Furthermore, with variable cross-sections introduced optimize Advantages PF AF illustrated by comparison conventional cantilever beams. results show that VEH has good capability more suitable low-frequency conditions.
